November to February: The winter season is by far the best time to visit Kovalam as the temperature is moderate and conducive for sightseeing, beach hopping, or honeymooning. The minimum temperature during this time of the year is 16 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature goes up to 34 degrees Celsius.

Coconut, rubber, tea, coffee, pepper, cardamom, areca nut, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, tapioca and Paddy are the major crops that are cultivated mostly in the area.

While Malayalam is the local language, English and Hindi are widely spoken and understood. Tamil are also understood towards border regions.

Paintings, carpets, metal crafts, wood and sandalwood artefacts. Tibetan stores selling shawls and woodwork are also present. Rosewood elephants, bamboo lampshades, sandalwood boxes and idols, shell jewellery, batik paintings and ebony jewellery boxes.
